Seaside Retreat

An artist’s retreat situated at a slope overlooking the coast of the Isle of Wight. This project was inspired by Alvaro Siza’s Ibere Camargo Foundation, which I genuinely perceive as having a subtle response to the site but with a dynamically interesting interior. This is conveyed by its calm white walls and rotational circulation. I was also inspired by Alex Hogrefe’s Cliff Retreat in designing its careful placement on the sloping cliff. The result is the house being designed where the ground floor above the 2nd floor so as to accommodate an entrance that is at the same level of slope’s highest point
